“Gain an understanding of the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI)”
The Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) is the assessment process that is undertaken in Residential Aged Care services to determine the level of funding that the facility will receive to provide care and services to each individual.
The ACFI requires aged care services staff to undertake a number of assessments to identify the service requirements of clients under various headings. The overall result equates to a funding allocation for that individual. It is important that staff understand the ACFI process to ensure that the assessment and ongoing evaluation of the client under the ACFI rules so that all available funding is claimed. The ACFI is administered by the Federal Government and an auditing system is in place to ensure the claims that are made are correct.
