Course Content

Communication with clients is vital to ensure that the correct care and support is being delivered but this can be difficult for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALDB)

In this session, Mary will discuss strategies for supporting a client with limited use of English.

Learning Outcomes

In this session you will:

  • Gain an understanding of the difficulties faced by clients trying to use the health care system with only limited or no English language skills available to them
  • Explore the role of the interpreter and how to get the best out of the relationship
  • Review the strategies to implement when using an interpreter
  • Reflect on your practice and the care needs of this client group
