“Create awareness of the impact that culture has on accessing health services and the quality of that healthcare”
Culture and cultural beliefs can have a significant impact on how people from different cultural backgrounds engage with health, disability and aged care services. The impact is often even greater for those not used to Western medical models.
In this session, you will:
- Create awareness of the impact that culture has on accessing health services and the quality of that healthcare.
- Examine cultural beliefs about causes of and responses to pain and illness.
- Learn about the effects of life experiences for some groups of migrants
- Develop and apply culturally respectful responses to pain and illness.
