“Review falls risk, assessment, prevention strategies, and post-fall management”
Falls and falls-related injuries cause significant morbidity and mortality in older people. Institutional settings – be that hospital or aged care facility- are associated with higher incidences of falls due to multiple factors – the health status of the client, the unfamiliar environment, and the demands of institutional routines.
In this session, we will review falls risk, assessment, prevention strategies, and post-fall management.
In this session you will:
- Gain an understanding of falls risk in the elderly population
- Explore falls assessment tools
- Investigate a number of falls prevention strategies
- Review post falls management protocols
