In this session, you will gain knowledge regarding the current recommendations for Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in Australia, receive information regarding the method of compression for adults and be provided with the steps of basic resuscitation.

Course Content

Nurses need to be able to perform CPR. The Australian Resuscitation Council provides Guidelines on the Correct Resuscitation Technique.

Nurses need to  be up to date with  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.  The Australian Resuscitation Council identifies that ‘Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the technique of chest compressions combined with rescue breathing. The purpose of cardiopulmonary resuscitation is to temporarily maintain a circulation sufficient to preserve brain function until specialised treatment is available.’

  • Gain knowledge regarding the current recommendations for Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in Australia
  • Receive information regarding the method of compression for adults
  • Gain knowledge regarding the process for assessing breathing and delivering breaths  in different circumstances
  • Be provided with the steps of  basic resuscitation
