“Focus on child-centred care”
Keeping the child in mind when working through parental/caregiver concerns is paramount with the focus on building confidence, not only in the parent/caregiver, but providing capacity to support their parenting/caregiver role.
The key to supporting parents in this way is in exploring and listening to parents & caregivers and building a clinical picture that is not solution focused but support and guidance focused.
In this session, we will be looking at case studies with the aim of a clinician being able to work through and identify with the family what they really want support with. In some cases, this may mean that the observed clinical picture is not necessarily matching the concern of the parent/caregiver. We discuss this dilemma further and offer ways of walking with the family to navigate their concerns as opposed to in front of them, providing solutions.
In this session you will:
- Explore growth and development through a wide lens
- Integrate aspects of observation, listening, available information (through observation and information provided) in supporting growth and development
- Focus on child-centred care
- Discover ways of supporting families and caregivers through clinical reasoning
