“1 in 5 people in Australia will experience a mental health illness this year”
Not all people who use substances such as alcohol or other drugs will have a problem.
Problems occur when people use substances at a level where it causes short term or long term harm affecting their lives and those around them.
In this webinar, we will explore substance use problems, how they are identified, and the treatment options available.
Remember 1 in 5 people in Australia will experience a mental health illness this year. That means that no matter where you practice Nursing you will at some time be working with a client/patient who has, or is experiencing, a mental health issue. You will need to be skilled enough to recognise this as well as support and assist them until you can refer them to a mental health specialist team member.
In this session you will:
- Gain an understanding of substance use problems
- Explore the most common substances that can lead to problems
- Examine the treatment options available
- Review the long term effectiveness of these interventions
