Course Content

The Australian College of Perioperative Nurses Standards are continuously reviewed to maintain the currency of recommendations it provides for perioperative evidence-based practice.

An evidence-based approach to Standards development and review involves a systematic search, retrieval, and appraisal of information from the literature, from which recommendations for practice are derived. This process is an enormous undertaking and it requires a team effort.

This session will help gain a more in-depth understanding of the process for the review of ACORN Standards.

  • Hear about the critical appraisal of evidence used to make recommendations
  • Learn about grading the strength of evidence and recommendations
  • Find out how the review process answers the study question
