Gastrostomy Tubes and Clinical Care

Presenter The Nursing CPD Institute

This session explores recommendations for the provision of care and managing complications in patients with gastrostomy tubes.

Course Content

'Gastrostomy tubes and devices are an established means of providing long term enteral nutrition. The need for enteral tube feeding can be confronting, challenging and overwhelming for patients, their family and carers. They are often also dealing with chronic medical conditions or disabilities and require specialised treatment or therapy.

It is important that health professionals have the knowledge and skills to provide safe and appropriate care'. This session uses the document A Clinician’s Guide: Caring for people with gastrostomy tubes and devices (NSW)  as the reference source.
