Presenter Robyn Latimer OAM, President
- Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia
Robyn Latimer OAM is the President of the Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia (TSAA). She became involved with TSAA over 15 years ago when her child was first diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome (TS) and has been president for 11 years.
Robyn has worked as a volunteer campaigning for greater awareness, understanding and support for those with TS among educators, medical professionals, politicians, media and general community to improve the quality of life for those affected by Tourette Syndrome.
Tourette Syndrome (TS) remains largely misunderstood. The quality of life score for those with Tourette Syndrome is less than half that of the general community. These two factors alone evidence the need for greater understanding and improvements in supports and treatment.
While there is no known cure, appropriate medical care can help control the symptoms and understanding can accomplish even more. Learning what Tourette Syndrome is, including comorbid and associated conditions, and exploring management strategies will better position those working within the health industry to positively impact the lives of those TS.
