Presenter The Nursing CPD Institute
This session explores the 2016 Hip Fracture Care Clinical Care Standard.
A hip fracture is a break occurring at the top of the thigh bone (femur), near the pelvis. An estimated 19 000 people in Australia over the age of 50 were hospitalised due to a hip fracture in 2011-12. As the Australian population continues to age, the number, and associated burden, of people admitted to hospital with a hip fracture is expected to increase annually.
The Hip Fracture Care Clinical Care Standard and accompanying resources were launched in September 2016 by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care , and provide guidance to consumers, clinicians and health services on delivering appropriate care to people with a hip fracture.
