Presenter Meryl Jones

Meryl Jones has worked in a variety of clinical settings in Australia and overseas, including paediatric emergency departments in Brisbane and the UK, ENT surgery for children living in remote Queensland Aboriginal communities, and cardiac surgery for children and adults in Papua New Guinea and East Africa.

Meryl has developed education programs on immunisation and written a practice guideline for immunising people of refugee background and has maintained an interest in paediatric vaccines since first working as a research nurse with the Oxford Vaccine Group.

 

Meryl is a member of the Steering Committee of the Refugee Nurses of Australia network and has presented at a number of national and international conferences and professional education sessions on refugee health.

Currently, Meryl works in Brisbane, Australia as a refugee health nurse.

Course Content

The Immunisation Schedule is constantly changing and responding to the latest research findings. Nurses must remain abreast of the current information pertaining to the immunisation schedule so as to ensure that the community is educated appropriately.
