Presenter Dr Wendy McIntosh

Dr Wendy Mcintosh has over a thirty year history in nursing (clinical, research, education), mainly in mental health. Dr McIntosh’s specialised area of interest was working with adult survivors of childhood trauma. In 2005, Wendy commenced her own consultancy business, Davaar Consultancy.

Wendy’s life’s work has developed in the area of professional boundaries and she conducts training at a state, national and international level in this area.

Wendy conducts a number of two day workshops on themes such as tenderness, looking after self to decrease the risk of compassion fatigue, working with clients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and complex trauma.

Wendy offers group and individual professional supervision. She has almost thirty years training in psychodrama and she likes to bring the experiential learning process into the work she does - including webinars.

Course Content

The presenter recently attended her first ICN Congress which this year was held in Singapore. She will take you through some of the main themes presented which have a significance for contemporary nursing and midwifery and into the future.

The WHO has designated 2020 as the International year of the nurse and midwife and as such there was a great emphasis on how our professions can build on this to generate governments around the world to take notice. There is an invite from the ICN that we talk up our professions in terms of “we are not expensive in fact we will positively affect the GDP of your country”.

Inspiring, courageous what a great venue to network and engage with colleagues from around the world. The presenter will also introduce you to two nurses for whom there is a calling to nominate them for the Nobel Peace Prize.

She will tell you how you can add your name to the list of nurses and midwives around the world who have already signed their support.
