AATD is a rare genetic condition estimated to effect approximately 1 in 300 people in Australia. Early symptoms are often misdiagnosed as asthma, with an accurate diagnosis often taking several years.

Course Content

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) is a genetic condition that may result in lung and/or liver disease. Alpha-1 Antitrypsin is a protein whose primary function is to protect the lungs from neutrophil disease.
